The Health Care Practice Group has significant experience serving the health care community and its business needs in transactions, preventative counseling and litigation. To address the myriad needs of practitioners and health care entities we use a cross functional team approach as appropriate to a client’s needs; those lawyers may be from our Corporate Department for structuring the health care entity or acquiring/selling a practice, from Real Estate to address leasing or property purchase, from Tax to address financial issues, Employment law, Environmental, or from Employee Benefits to deal with compensation or other benefit issues. 

Our clients have included doctors, physician groups, dentists, surgical centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other types of health care practices and entities including legal advice to firms that consult with health care entities and practitioners.

Prevention and Risk Management

The risk of litigation and regulatory scrutiny in health care is a fact of life. As an example, the recent passage (January 2008) of New Jersey’s “Whistle Blower Law” raises the risk of compliance scrutiny for many health care entities. While our approach to working with clients focuses on prevention and risk management, our Litigation Department is among the most comprehensive in the state. In circumstances where litigation arises from any corner, employment, malpractice or regulatory, among others, over half of our 100+ lawyers are litigators who have defended and prosecuted cases in state and federal courts and have appeared before regulatory agencies.
