Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis Launches Data Center Development & Infrastructure Practice

9.16.26

Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is pleased to announce the launch of its Data Center Development & Infrastructure practice, which provides legal support to developers, operators, investors, lenders, and other financing parties engaged in the siting, construction, and operation of data centers and related infrastructure.

Serving as lead counsel on New Jersey-centric projects and as local New Jersey counsel to national and international law firms and developers, Greenbaum’s multidisciplinary practice team blends regulatory depth with transactional efficiency to help clients advance their private enterprise, shared colocation, hyperscale, and localized edge data center projects. A key and defining element of this work is the strength of our team’s relationships with state agencies, municipal boards, local governments, municipal and public utilities, and regulators.

The firm advises clients throughout the project lifecycle, including site selection and land use approvals, environmental permitting, energy and utility matters, regulatory matters, real estate structuring, project financing, tax incentives, and community engagement. The team also assists owners and operators with energy procurement, ongoing regulatory requirements, and infrastructure matters that arise once a facility becomes operational.

Barbara J. Koonz, leader of the new practice, comments: “Greenbaum’s focus on this sector is not a new development, as our attorneys are currently advising on major data center projects throughout New Jersey, including developments involving billion-dollar investments. Formalizing this work within a dedicated practice reflects both the changing needs of our clients and the firm’s continued evolution. Our practice team brings together the firm’s deep New Jersey expertise across land use, environmental, energy, real estate, finance, and tax incentives to help move these complex projects forward.”

The new practice area launch comes one week after Greenbaum unveiled a comprehensive refresh of its brand identity and website. Collectively, these milestones demonstrate the firm's strategic adaptation to an increasingly complex business and regulatory environment.
