It's Not Just About OSHA!

9.12.12

Three of the firm’s partners, David B. Farer, Marcie R. Horowitz and Daniel L. Schmutter, will be joined by Lee Braem, Senior Corporate Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer for Evonik Degussa Corporation, for a presentation entitled “The Dangers Within: An Update on Dealing with Environmental Hazards in the Workplace.” The program will be presented at the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association 10th Annual Full Day CLE Conference on September 21, 2012 at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany.

The session will provide an overview of the myriad of potential environmental and health hazards encountered in the workplace, including a discussion of major and up-and-coming issues (not only familiar issues such as asbestos, mold, and indoor air quality, but also some topics that in-house lawyers may not yet have on their radar, such as PCBs in caulking materials, chemicals in playground equipment at on-site daycare facilities, and pandemic flu preparations).

The program will be introduced and moderated by Mr. Farer. Ms. Horowitz will present "The Nature of Environmental Hazards Within a Legal, Regulatory, and Guidance Framework."  Mr. Braem will address "The In-House Perspective," providing tips for managing employee and outside relationships and addressing privacy concerns. Mr. Schmutter will end the program with his presentation on "Investigating the Potential Responsibility of Outside Parties and Strategies for Recovering Costs."
