NJSBA 2026 Annual Meeting and Convention
1:15pm –2:45pm

Greenbaum attorney Joseph A. Natale will be a panelist for the session “Who's Your Client? Defining Attorney Duties in Non-Clients After Christakos vs. Boyadjis” at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s 2026 Annual Meeting and Convention. The program is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 1:15pm –2:45pm, at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.

The New Jersey Supreme Court recently clarified when a non-client may bring a legal malpractice claim against an attorney in Christakos v. Boyadjis. This CLE will examine the current state of the law with two primary areas of focus. First, it will consider attorneys as potential defendants, including the newly adopted Restatement test and when a potential claim must be reported to a malpractice carrier. Second, it will address attorneys representing prospective plaintiffs, highlighting the key facts to evaluate in determining whether a viable claim exists.

Joe will be installed as Treasurer of the NJSBA’s Young Lawyers Division at this year's Annual Meeting. He represents clients in sophisticated commercial disputes, including litigation in state and federal courts, and in arbitration and administrative forums. He represents a diverse client base—including businesses, developers, contractors, landlords, and professional services firms—in matters involving business torts, breach of contract, shareholder and partnership disputes, professional liability defense, and real estate and construction litigation.
