Meryl A.G. Gonchar, co-chair of the Real Estate Department at the law firm of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, was elected to the Board of Trustees of NAIOP New Jersey Chapter. Ms. Gonchar will also serve as the Co-Chair of the Education Committee. She was also selected to serve as Chair of the Program Committee of the Executive Women of New Jersey where she also serves on its Board of Directors.
Ms. Gonchar is chair of the firm’s Land Use Practice Group. Her practice encompasses all aspects of land use and zoning and land use litigation. She has appeared before planning, zoning and land use boards throughout the state on behalf of property owners and developer clients in connection with all types of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed use projects. She also represents clients in land use, condemnation and related litigation before the Superior Court of New Jersey. Her diversified experience enables her to assist clients throughout the various stages of a project’s development, from acquisition through approvals and permitting, financing, leasing or sales, providing extensive knowledge and continuity throughout the often long and complicated process of land development.
Ms. Gonchar is an elected member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. She was also selected for inclusion in: Super Lawyers – New Jersey Edition as one of New Jersey's Top 50 Women Lawyers and as an outstanding lawyer in the Land Use/Zoning practice area; Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2010 in the Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use category; and The Best Lawyers in America 2011 in the Real Estate category. Ms. Gonchar is resident at the firm’s Woodbridge office. She serves on the firm’s Marketing Committee and recently completed a term on the Management Committee.
Ms. Gonchar was the recipient of the 2010 Middlesex County Bar Association Transactional Attorney Practice Award for excellence in her profession. Ms. Gonchar was named a Woman of Influence by Real Estate Forum Magazine in their July/August 2010 issue. She was recognized as one of Real Estate New Jersey magazine's Women of Influence in 2009 and was selected for NJBIZ magazine's Top 50 Women in Business in 2008.
Ms. Gonchar has spoken and written on a variety of land use related topics and has served as a lecturer for the New Jersey Association of REALTORS® - Graduate Realtor Institute, the Atlantic Builders Convention, the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and before various financial institutions and professional organizations. She has been a panelist and moderator for the annual Land Use Update presented by the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. She is a past chairperson of the Land Use Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and a past president of Industrial Commercial Real Estate Women (ICREW-NJ). Ms. Gonchar is a Trustee of the Women in the Profession Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Ms. Gonchar is a cum laude graduate of Rutgers College and received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark.
