Greenbaum partner Steven G. Mlenak, Co-Chair of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use Department, will be a panelist for the educational seminar “Oh, “Tutti Frutti”, Rock Your Understanding of Fiduciary Duty!” at the 2023 CAI-NJ Conference & Expo, which will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at The Event Center @ IPA, 110 Schanck Road in Freehold.

The presentation, scheduled for 9:30am – 10:30am, will address the concept of fiduciary duties, what they mean, how they apply in the Association governance setting, what the legal obligations and consequences are surrounding upholding vs. breaching fiduciary duty, and examples of how the various duties apply in real-life examples. Focus will be placed on the applicability of fiduciary duty to Board Members and community managers in the context of everyday business decisions.

Mr. Mlenak, a CAI-NJ Vice President and Executive Committee member, is a member of the firm’s Community Association Practice Group, where he maintains a strong focus in the niche area of community association law, providing strategic guidance and general counseling to condominium and homeowners association clients across a broad range of legal issues. His work encompasses the interpretation and amendment of governing documents and by-laws, drafting contracts, collection of delinquent assessments, the enforcement of rules and regulations, operational and maintenance issues, the fiduciary responsibilities of board members, transition negotiations and litigation, Municipal Services Act compliance, and alternative dispute resolution.
