Jack Fersko, Chair of the firm’s Cannabis Industry Practice Group, will moderate and lecture at the “2023 Cannabis & Real Estate Conference,” to be hosted by the Industrial and Office Real Estate Brokers Association (IOREBA) and the Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Journal (MARE) on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 8:00am – 11:00am at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott.
The firm is a sponsor of the conference, which will feature presentations on the commercial real estate industry's opportunities in the cannabis space and adaptation to the new legal cannabis culture. The program agenda includes the following topics:
- Overview of the history and economics of the legalized cannabis industry
- Overview of federal and state laws and licensing requirements related to medical and adult use cannabis
- Issues related to banking and tax issues
- Regulatory process
- Real estate issues, including those related to the role of the broker, title, insurance, leases, and landlord/tenant matters
Mr. Fersko’s practice reflects his extensive experience as a commercial real estate and general business lawyer. As Co-Chair of the Real Estate Department, his services emphasize industrial and commercial real estate activities, with a particular focus on industrial leasing, project financing, sustainable development and alternative energy initiatives, urban redevelopment, and the impact of environmental laws on commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition and redevelopment of environmentally contaminated sites. He also counsels clients on issues related to the business and legal impacts of a New Jersey-based cannabis industry.
