The Hon. Michael R. Casale (Ret.), Of Counsel in the firm’s Family Law Department, will be a panelist for a special program hosted by the Justice Virginia Long Family Law American Inn of Court at its Nov. 9, 2017 meeting. Judge Casale will provide his judicial perspective in a discussion of the recent New Jersey Supreme Court decision in Bisbing v. Bisbing, a landmark family law case regarding interstate relocation disputes.  The meeting will be held at the Culinary Conference Center at Hudson Community College in Jersey City.

The Court reversed its previous decision in Baures v Lewis, establishing the “best interest” standard of review for deciding such cases. The panel also includes the two attorneys who argued the case before the court: Respondent’s attorney Matheu D. Nunn (Einhorn, Harris, Ascher, Barbarito & Frost), and appellant’s attorney Paul H. Townsend (Townsend, Tomaio & Newmark).  Inn Master Cecilia Lindenfelser will moderate the program.

Judge Casale focuses his practice on mediation, arbitration, settlement conferences and discovery management.  He has extensive experience in the areas of family law, personal injury and insurance defense, which he brings to bear in his representation of clients in complex family and civil disputes, including malpractice and employment litigation matters. His practice also encompasses consultation and trial strategy in child custody, relocation, child support and domestic violence matters.  Judge Casale joined the firm following his retirement from the New Jersey Judiciary after over 20 years of service as a Superior Court Judge in Essex County.
