Jack Fersko will moderate the program “Clearing the Air: The Cannabis Industry’s Impact on CRE” at the NAIOP CRE Converge 2019 fall conference, which will take place on October 14-16, 2019 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live.  The session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 from 11:45am – 12:45pm, and will feature an interactive discussion by a panel of commercial real estate professionals.

The cannabis industry presents potential significant economic benefits for commercial real estate; however, cannabis-related real estate transactions are fraught with a variety of potential pitfalls. This program will explore the current state of the federal/state legal and regulatory climate; leasing, title and finance issues to consider in any transaction; accounting and banking challenges that must be met; opportunities/challenges for investment funds, including public and private REITs; and whether the excitement is limited to the industrial market or extends to the retail market.

Mr. Fersko’s practice reflects his extensive experience as a commercial real estate and general business lawyer. His legal services emphasize industrial and commercial real estate activities, with a particular focus on industrial leasing, project financing, sustainable development and alternative energy initiatives, urban redevelopment, and the impact of environmental laws on commercial real estate transactions.  In response to the expansion of New Jersey’s legal medical marijuana program and possible enactment of an adult-use recreational program, Mr. Fersko is prepared to meet the needs of both existing and future clients by providing counsel related to the business and legal impacts of a New Jersey-based cannabis industry.
