Lydia C. Stefanowicz, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department, will lecture at the 2016 American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) Mid-Year Meeting, which takes place at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar Resort in San Diego, CA on March 17 – 20, 2016. ACREL is the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. Its distinguished, nationally-known lawyers have been elected to fellowship for their outstanding legal ability, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law.
Ms. Stefanowicz will participate as a panelist for the program “Loco for Local Counsel Opinions” on March 18 from 10:15am – 11:00am. The presentation will cover the following issues:
- What normally distinguishes a local counsel opinion from an opinion of lead counsel
- The issues confronted by broad local counsel requests
- What customary opinions should be given or avoided by local counsel
- How local counsel opinion practice may be consistent with the 2012 Real Estate Opinion Letter Report
Ms. Stefanowicz is a fellow in ACREL, and serves as Secretary of its Attorney Opinions Committee. She concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial lending and real estate. She provides counsel to both lenders and borrowers in real estate acquisition, construction, permanent mortgage and mezzanine financings. She has significant experience in real estate workouts and debt restructuring transactions, and represents real estate developers and investment funds in connection with the formation of joint ventures to acquire, develop, construct and manage properties.
