Barbara J. KoonzGreenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is proud to announce that Barbara J. Koonz has been elected to the prestigious American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) as a Class of 2024 Fellow. She is one of only seventeen environmental lawyers from New Jersey to be elected to Fellowship in the College since its founding.

ACOEL is a professional association of distinguished lawyers who practice in the field of environmental law in government service, public interest, academia and private practice. Membership is by invitation and members are recognized by their peers as preeminent in their field. ACOEL Fellows are dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law, the administration of justice, and the development of environmental law through rigorous focus, outreach and education in all forums — federal, state, municipal, tribal and international.  

Ms. Koonz is a partner in the firm’s Environmental Department and Co-Chair of the Energy, Renewable Resources & Sustainable Development Practice Group. She focuses her practice in the areas of environmental and energy law, with an emphasis on environmental permitting and compliance, renewable and clean energy projects, coastal and port-area projects, and A-901 licensing. For over 25 years, she has provided guidance on a comprehensive range of environmental and energy-related legal issues to private and public sector clients, serving in many instances as local counsel to both domestic and overseas clients on projects in New Jersey. She has extensive experience in negotiating regulatory issues and resolving related enforcement actions with public agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
