On August 16, 2010, EisnerAmper LLP was born through the combination of two powerhouse accounting firms – Amper, Politziner & Mattia LLP (APM) and Eisner LLP. The combination makes EisnerAmper LLP the 14th largest accounting firm in the US with annual revenues of over $250 million. EisnerAmper is the nation’s 10th largest auditor of SEC registrants.

The history of APM’s growth involves the savvy of Amper’s partners and the legal support of Alan Davis, partner at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP in Woodbridge, NJ, and the immediate past Chair of the Corporate Department. Some 42 years ago, Davis helped Messrs. Amper, Politziner and Mattia organize their fledgling practice. Somewhat later in the mid 1970’s they even shared adjacent offices in the same building while they were building their professional lives. In the ensuing years Davis acted almost as if he were APM’s de facto general counsel, shepherding the three original APM partners through the preparation of their shareholder agreements, compensation and retirement plans, the growth and admittance of new partners, and two other major combinations with accounting firms – the first with Diamant, Katz, Kahn & Co. LLP, which brought APM to NY, and the more recent combination in 2008 with Goldenberg Rosenthal LLP, a Philadelphia accounting firm.

In the current combination with Eisner, Alan Davis represented APM through the negotiation and structuring of the transaction. Davis was assisted by Senwan Akhtar, Raymond Felton, Chair of the Corporate Department at Greenbaum, Hal Mandel, Larry Maher, Lindsay Wills and Jill Bier. Eisner was represented by lawyers from Dechert LLP: from the NY office, Charles I. Weissman, James H. Nix, Claude M. Tusk and Blair McKechnie; and from Dechert’s Philadelphia office, Stephen M. Leitzell.
