Wendell A. Smith, senior partner of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP has been elected chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Bayshore Community Hospital Foundation in Holmdel, NJ.

Mr. Smith has been involved in myriad charitable enterprises throughout his career. An alumnus of Johns Hopkins University, he has received both its Distinguished Alumnus Award and Heritage Award. He serves on the University Board of Trustees, the Johns Hopkins Medicine Board, chaired the Annual Fund and was the initial chair of the Johns Hopkins Alumni Council. 

Mr. Smith has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1983 (the first year of publication) and is a well known expert in the field of planned real estate law. As an attorney member of the New Jersey Assembly Task Force to Study Homeowners Associations, he is the coauthor of the definitive book, New Jersey Condominium and Community Association Law, by Gann Law Books. Smith is the founding president of the Community Associations Institute of NJ and serves as its General Counsel; he was a former national trustee of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and past president of the CAI Research Foundation. Smith is a charter member of CAI’s College of Community Associations Lawyers and of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

Mr. Smith has also demonstrated an abiding commitment to the theatre arts as a co-founder and director of both the Holmdel Drama and Art Association and the Holmdel Theatre Company, Inc. That organization converted a 110 year old barn to a 99 seat theatre named after his son, Duncan, who was very active in theatre at Holmdel High School and at Johns Hopkins before his death in 1987.

Mr. Smith is a past president and was a member of the Holmdel Board of Education for nine years and was the founding president of the Holmdel Foundation for Educational Excellence. He is a past chairman and has been a member of Bayshore Community Hospital Board of Trustees for 35 years. He is a former director of Beacon Hill Country Club and was a Holmdel Youth Athletic Association coach for 10 years. He is a recipient of a Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Monmouth Council Boy Scouts of America.

Smith received his law degree from the University of Michigan. He resides in Holmdel with his wife Joan.
