Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP partner Alan S. Naar won a 2008 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for Legal Writing Award for his chapter, “Understanding The Benefits And Risks Of Alternative Dispute Resolution,” that appeared in the Inside the Minds series book, Mediation and Arbitration Best Practices: Leading Lawyers on Successfully Resolving Disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (Aspatore, 2007). This year only 30 authors were selected out of entries submitted from the nation’s 1,000 largest law firms.

Naar serves as vice chair of the firm’s Litigation Department and chair of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He concentrates in commercial litigation representing a variety of corporate, partnership, and individual clients.  He has been engaged in all aspects of civil litigation from the pre-commencement phase through the appeal process in both the federal and state courts.  Recently, Mr. Naar served as counsel for Marty Richards, film and Broadway producer, and was successful in establishing at the trial court and appellate court levels, and the New Jersey Supreme Court, that, as a surviving spouse of Mary Lea Johnson Richards, one of J. Seward Johnson Sr.'s children listed in a 1961 Charitable Lead Trust, he was a beneficiary of the Trust and entitled to distributions for the Trustees of the Trust.

Naar is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the Commercial Litigation category and was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers – New Jersey Edition 2008 by Super Lawyers magazine in the Business Litigation practice area. He is a certified arbitrator for the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey and a certified arbitrator of the American Arbitration Association. He is a trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar for the State of New Jersey and a former Member of the Executive Committee of the Federal Practice and Procedure Committee of New Jersey State Bar Association.

Naar is a graduate of Rutgers University and received his law degree from Columbia University Law School.
