Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is proud to announce that our partner John D. North has been inducted into the prestigious and highly selective International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Mr. North was one of 27 attorneys inducted at the Academy’s July 2013 Mid Year Meeting in Chicago. He joins the ranks of only 25 other New Jersey attorneys who are Academy Fellows, including our firm’s Chairman Paul A. Rowe.
The Academy’s stated criteria for invitation to fellowship are as follows:
“Trial attorneys are admitted to fellowship only if they possess, in an exceptional degree, the following qualifications: 1. Superior skill and recognized ability in trial and appellate practice; 2. Services rendered in promoting the best interests of the legal profession and the highest standards and techniques of advocacy, and; 3. Excellent character and absolute integrity.”
Mr. North’s litigation practice is focused in commercial litigation, construction litigation and professional liability and negligence matters. He has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts, including significant cases in the fields of banking, insurance, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, products liability and construction. While he primarily handles defensive litigation, Mr. North also maintains a personal injury practice limited to significant injuries and complex liability issues. He serves as President of Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America.
The International Academy of Trial Lawyers was chartered in 1954. Its purposes include the elevation of the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy within the legal profession, the promotion of reforms in the law, and the cultivation of the science of jurisprudence. In the United States, membership in the Academy is limited to 500 Fellows under the age of 70, while Fellows age 70 and beyond retain all rights and privileges for life. In addition, the Academy has over 100 Fellows in 30 foreign countries.
