Robert Beckelman, a partner in the Real Estate Department of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of PlanSmart NJ, an independent, non-profit planning and research organization committed to improving the quality of community life through the advancement of sound land use planning and regional cooperation.

PlanSmart NJ’s strategy focuses on comprehensive sustainability and stability for the state’s economy, environment, and communities, and seeks to address the impacts of aging infrastructure, inefficient land use patterns, loss of environmentally sensitive land, disinvestment in urban areas and inner ring suburbs as well as global economic shifts. The group identifies New Jersey’s key challenges and opportunities as economic development, the environment, transportation, and regional equity.

Mr. Beckelman is a member of the firm’s Condemnation & Eminent Domain, Redevelopment, Land Use and Environmental Practice Groups. His practice is focused on the representation of developers and property owners in connection with land use and zoning matters and disputes, serving as special redevelopment and litigation counsel to municipalities, and representing clients in general commercial and civil litigation matters.
