Senwan H. Akhtar, an associate in the Corporate and Real Estate Departments of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, is a Special Editor of the October 2014 issue of New Jersey Lawyer Magazine, a publication of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Ms. Akhtar serves on the magazine’s editorial board. The October 2014 issue focuses on legal issues related to business law, with an emphasis on the recently adopted New Jersey Revised Uniform Limited Liability Company Act (NJRULLCA). As a Special Editor, Ms. Akhtar was responsible for selecting the theme of the magazine issue, for identifying potential authors and article topics, and for editing the articles. W. Raymond Felton, co-managing partner of and Chair of the Greenbaum’s Corporate Department, opens the issue with an article on key changes NJRULLCA has made relating to limited liability companies in New Jersey.  In addition to articles on NJRULLCA, the issue includes articles on trade secrets, franchise law, environmental law, and legal malpractice.

Ms. Akhtar currently serves as the co-Chair of the Real Estate Committee of the Middlesex County Bar Association. In 2012, 2013 and 2014, she was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers - New Jersey Rising Stars in the Business/Corporate practice area. Ms. Akhtar served on the Board of Consultors of the State Bar’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section from 2011 to 2012. She served on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association from 2008 to 2012. She was the recipient of the Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the Middlesex County Bar Association in 2011. She was selected for inclusion in the 2011 edition of the New Jersey Law Journal's "40 Under 40”issue.  In 2009, she was recognized as one of Real Estate New Jersey magazine's “Women of Influence.”

Ms. Akhtar’s practice focuses on the representation of companies in general corporate matters, employment agreements, distribution and licensing agreements, and the structuring of new business entities and joint ventures. She represents sellers and purchasers in all aspects of commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, and she represents landlords and tenants on office, industrial and retail leases.
