The Hon. Glenn Berman (Ret.), Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department, will speak at a presentation on “Civility and Professionalism in the Practice of Law: A View from the Bench” at the Division of Law 2019 In-Service Program, which will be presented by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 8:30am – 3:45pm at Princeton University’s McDonnell Hall.

Judge Berman’s fellow panelists for the presentation, which is scheduled for 9:15am – 10:30am, will be AAG Michelle Miller (Director, Division of Law), The Hon. Patricia Costello (Ret.), The Hon. Harriet Farber Klein (Ret.) and The Hon. Edwin Stern (Ret.).

Judges interact with a large number of attorneys in a multitude of matters, and are uniquely qualified to identify best practices for professionalism that attorneys should follow to comply with the Rules of Professional Conduct. This panel will offer their perspectives on civility in the practice of law, illustrating behaviors to emulate and pitfalls to avoid, with examples from their distinguished tenure on the bench.

Judge Berman focuses his practice on mediation, arbitration, and discovery management of complex family, commercial, estate/probate, real estate and general equity matters. His practice area also encompasses special master services, settlement conferences and law enforcement investigations. He brings to the firm a wealth of expertise garnered from his many years of service to New Jersey’s Judiciary.
