Robert S. Goldsmith and Meryl A.G. Gonchar, Co-Chairs of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use Department, will participate in the program “Redevelop NJ – Navigating the Growing Redevelopment Trend” on June 16 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. The program, hosted by the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA), will be held at Woodard & Curran’s offices in East Windsor.  

Ms. Gonchar, Chair of NJBA's Master Sponsor program, will introduce the program. Mr. Goldsmith, serving as moderator, will lead a discussion of how builders, remodelers and supporting industries can best position their businesses to be part of the surging redevelopment market in New Jersey. Panelists will focus on all types and sizes of redevelopment projects and a wide range of related topics.

Ms. Gonchar's practice encompasses all aspects of land use, zoning and related litigation. She represents property owners and developers in appearances before planning and zoning boards throughout the state, in connection with obtaining land use approvals and permits for residential, retail, office, industrial and mixed use projects. She also represents clients in land use, condemnation and related litigation before the Superior Court of New Jersey, including prerogative writ litigation. 

Ms. Gonchar is a Fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and an active member of New Jersey’s commercial real estate and legal communities. She serves on the Board of Directors of the NJBA and is a recipient of the Chairman's Award from the NJBA for her exemplary service on the NJBA's Legislative Affairs Committee (2015). Ms. Gonchar was appointed to the founding Advisory Board of the Center for Real Estate at Rutgers Business School and serves on the Program Advisory Committee of Monmouth University’s Kislak Real Estate Institute, where she teaches a course on real estate law.

Mr. Goldsmith's practice focuses on redevelopment, downtown and urban revitalization, transit oriented development, project financing and incentives, sustainable building initiatives and public-private partnerships. His experience encompasses counseling clients on the specialized issues in redevelopment related to parking demand, design and construction. Mr. Goldsmith also has broad experience in complex commercial litigation, construction litigation and appellate work. 

Earlier this year, Mr. Goldsmith received the Chairman's Award from the NJBA for his exemplary service on its Land Use & Redevelopment Committee. He is the recipient of a New Jersey Future Smart Growth Award (2009) and the President's Award for Distinguished Leadership in Planning from the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association (2007).  He is President of Downtown New Jersey and a Trustee and Board Member of New Jersey Future.
