Greenbaum partner Robert S. Goldsmith, co-chair of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use practice, will be a panelist for a webinar on “Redevelopment of Stranded Assets in 2025, ” which will be presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 9:00am – 12:35pm.
The panelists will examine current challenges and opportunities in repurposing stranded assets like vacant malls and office buildings, including a review of New Jersey’s statutory framework, case studies, valuation and tax assessment issues.
The agenda for this program will include:
- Background on the Local Redevelopment Housing Law (LRHL) in New Jersey
- Use of non-condemnation Area in Need of Redevelopment (AINR) designations
- AINR designations of “stranded assets” since 2019, including real-life examples and outcomes
- Perspectives from the brokerage and investment community
- Valuation and tax assessment issues
- Case studies from real-life scenarios
Bob’s practice focuses on redevelopment, downtown and urban revitalization, transit-oriented development, project financing and incentives, sustainable building initiatives and public-private partnerships. His experience encompasses counseling clients on specialized issues in redevelopment related to parking demand, design and construction. He also has broad experience in complex commercial litigation, construction litigation and appellate work.
