Robert S. Goldsmith, Co-Chair of the firm’s Redevelopment & Land Use Department, will be a speaker at the 100th Annual New Jersey State League of Municipalities Conference: The Foundation for a Bright Future, to be held at the Atlantic City Convention Center on November 17-19, 2015. The event is traditionally one of the largest municipal gatherings in the country.

Mr. Goldsmith will be a presenter at a seminar on “The Changing Roles, Rules and Regulations of New Jersey’s Special Improvement Districts” at the conference.  The session will address the complex legal and financial issues facing municipal leaders and volunteers as they advocate for stronger commercial districts, main streets and downtowns across New Jersey.  Issues to be discussed include aggressive panhandling, challenges by mobile food vendors, stakeholder lawsuits, withdrawal of municipal support and defunding, and judicial and administrative findings regarding OPRA and PRA compliance.

Mr. Goldsmith focuses his practice on redevelopment, downtown and urban revitalization, transit oriented development, project financing and incentives, sustainable building initiatives and public-private partnerships. His experience encompasses counseling clients on the specialized issues in redevelopment related to parking demand, design and construction. Mr. Goldsmith also has broad experience in complex commercial litigation, construction litigation and appellate work.
