Steven G. Mlenak, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate and Redevelopment & Land Use Departments, will be a presenter for the live webinar “What is the ‘New Norm’ for CAI-NJ Members? Virtually Navigating the Good, the Bad & the Ugly of the World after COVID,” to be presented on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 10:00am – 11:00am by the Community Associations Institute New Jersey Chapter (CAI-NJ).
This panel discussion will explore how associations, business partners and managers are learning to adapt to the ‘new normal’ both during and after the current public health emergency. Topics to be addressed include:
- After the state of emergency ends, there will be a ‘new normal’ when it comes to the way we interact with existing clients or develop new relationships. What can we do to prepare for that reality?
- What should our business partner members expect from community associations in terms of contractual demands (i.e. force majeure) and how can both sides work together for mutual benefit?
- In what ways have the stay-at-home orders changed the way we view virtual meetings and alternative work arrangements? What impact will it have regarding on-site management? How will community boards operate going forward?
Mr. Mlenak concentrates his practice in the areas of redevelopment, land use, zoning, and real estate development. As a member of the firm’s Community Association Practice Group, he provides strategic guidance and general counseling to condominium and homeowners association clients across a broad range of legal issues. His work encompasses the interpretation and amendment of governing documents and by-laws, drafting contracts, collection of delinquent assessments, the enforcement of rules and regulations, operational and maintenance issues, the fiduciary responsibilities of board members, transition negotiations and litigation, Municipal Services Act compliance, and alternative dispute resolution. He further represents clients in construction defect litigation, Fair Housing discrimination cases and landlord-tenant matters.
