Senwan H. Akhtar, a lawyer in both the Corporate and Real Estate Departments at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, was selected for the New Jersey Law Journal’s “40 Under 40” list for 2011. The list, compiled annually, highlights the top 40 attorneys in New Jersey under the age of 40. The Law Journal’s criteria for selection of these rising stars in their second decade of practice are that they have developed practice niches, amassed strong books of business, demonstrated leadership qualities, shown expertise in litigation or transactional work and committed themselves to pro bono, charitable and professional volunteer work.
This past May, Ms. Akhtar was elected to the Board of Consultors of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) at the NJSBA Annual Conference in Atlantic City, NJ, and was appointed to the Editorial Board of the New Jersey Lawyer Magazine by the President of the NJSBA, Susan Feeney. The New Jersey Lawyer Magazine is published by the NJSBA on a bi-monthly basis and is sent to all members of the NJSBA.
Ms. Akhtar is one of the few attorneys in the State of New Jersey who is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), a credential awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council to those professionals who have demonstrated an advanced depth of knowledge in green building practices and in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. She is a strong believer that, “Sustainable development and green building issues affect all aspects of real estate transactions.” That belief motivated her to become a LEED AP.
