Virtual Forum
11:00am – 12:30pm

Steven G. Mlenak, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate and Redevelopment & Land Use Departments, and Jemi Goulian Lucey, a partner in the firm’s Employment Law and Litigation Departments, will be panelists for the virtual forum “Cannabis is Coming, Are You Ready?” to be presented by Downtown New Jersey on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 11:00am – 12:30pm. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A to allow for an engaging conversation with panelists and attendees.

Mr. Mlenak will provide insights on what municipalities/downtowns need to know if they do (or don’t) want to allow cannabis dispensaries or consumption areas in their community. Concentrating his practice in the areas of redevelopment, land use, zoning, and real estate development, his clients include property owners and developers engaged in mixed use, residential, industrial, commercial, office, retail and affordable housing development projects.  Mr. Mlenak provides guidance from the initial project concept through to construction, including land use planning and approvals, permits and variances and appearances before municipal, county and state planning and zoning boards and agencies.

Ms. Lucey will provide information about what downtown employers need to know about cannabis; in particular, she will focus on enforcement and liability related to employee use of cannabis, both on and off the job. Ms. Lucey is a trial attorney who focuses her practice on employment, higher education and professional negligence matters. She represents private and public entities in employment discrimination and retaliation actions, professional negligence cases, Title IX claims, and business disputes. She also lectures and consults on employment and human resources law and provides guidance related to the practical implications of various state and federal laws affecting employers.

Details and registration can be found on Downtown New Jersey’s website.
